LinkedIn Tips & News
Hello dear reader,
As summer is a great time to get inspired and explore, we'd like to dive into the topic of startup opportunities on social media. 🌞 This month, Zane Bojāre will share her insights on how startups can utilize social media, while Linkedist CEO Kotryna Kurt, together with Black Unicorn PR founder Julija Jegorova will give you some tangible tips on LinkedIn and Twitter alignment.

For June's “People” section, we have invited Zane Bojāre – a Head of Brand at Startup Wise Guys. We have asked Zane about the importance of social media to startups: and here’s what she had to say.
How can startups use social media channels for their best benefit?
With the advent of generative AI, the playing field has changed, making content creation more accessible to people who are not copywriters or naturally skilled in writing. So, no excuses for not creating content on social media channels. However, the challenge now and in the future lies in maintaining authenticity and "being real."
Secondly, I would say startup founders can do a lot not only with their company pages but also with their personal profiles. The audience craves real stories and human connections. Personal branding matters.
What tips could you give any startup starting its journey on social media?
Make sure to evaluate if you need social media marketing at all, who will be doing it internally or externally, and how you will measure your results. Especially in the Business-to-Business (B2B) sector, you might need social media for legitimacy purposes, as you are probably still doing "door-to-door" sales, aka cold calling.
So, what you want to ensure is that when people search for your company name, they find legit results. However, you may only need to be present on some social media channels, without a need to develop content daily.
Are there any social media platforms more suitable or effective for startups? Why?
The typical answer would be "it depends"... on your product, target customer, geography, or niche. At Startup Wise Guys, we have found that LinkedIn is a good investment for startup founders in terms of personal branding and advertising, mostly because we work with startups in the B2B sector.
Platforms like TikTok or Instagram might be more suitable for consumer-facing startups, depending on the target age group. In certain geographies, such as African countries, Twitter brings very good results.
The most important thing is to know where your audience naturally "hangs out" and be relevant there, either by yourself or through a third party like your clients or influencers.

Tip of the month
For this month's tips, Julija Jegorova, the Founder and CEO of Black Unicorn PR, and Kotryna Kurt, CEO of Linkedist, share their insights on the importance of Twitter and LinkedIn for startups.
Startups can benefit from being present on both platforms: finding the proper alignment can amplify your brand awareness. Here are some essential elements to consider:
📍 Expectations. On LinkedIn, much attention is focused on in-depth knowledge and educational content, while news and updates can generate traffic on Twitter. In other words, Twitter is a fast platform, and Twitter's rapid news flow can boost slower-paced LinkedIn personal branding.
📍 Tone of voice. While LinkedIn is a platform for professionals, Twitter is a more casual social media. Sharing engaging news, promoting events, and creating discussions on Twitter allows you to tailor your brand's personality, while on LinkedIn, you can create educational value for your audience.
📍 Content. On Twitter, you can effectively share your company's milestones and news rapidly. Tagging investors and journalists results in a bigger audience reach, and combining that with appropriate hashtags can amplify the brand's visibility.
📍 Lead generation. LinkedIn remains the best platform for lead generation. However, Twitter is a great tool for reputational management, media relations, and standing out on the platform.
Both LinkedIn and Twitter can benefit your growth as a brand. Don't forget to focus on your brand's goals and use these platforms accordingly to amplify your company's awareness. 🎯
Summertime is for personal growth!
Use it to your advantage and prepare for new autumn opportunities right now.
