ChatGPT Ads for B2B work as one half of a two-part plan at Linkedist, because OpenAI shows sponsored units only to Free and Go users while Business and Enterprise seats stay ad-free. Agencies that publish on the channel, such as Workshop Digital and VertoDigital, mostly cover the paid buy inside OpenAI Ads Manager, not the buyer on an ad-free company seat. According to Forrester’s Buyers’ Journey Survey 2025, 94% of business buyers use AI in their buying process, and Forrester reports that 61% use private AI tools provided by their organization.

Linkedist runs the paid layer and the organic answer layer together for B2B teams. This article covers who actually sees a ChatGPT ad, what the first public B2B test data shows, and how we get enterprise brands named in AI answers. For the full channel map across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, and Perplexity, see our AI ads playbook for 2026.

Key Takeaways

  • Linkedist runs ChatGPT Ads and AI search optimization, also called generative engine optimization (GEO), as two documented services. A B2B team can buy the paid unit and fix its organic presence in one engagement.

  • The proof for AI answer outcomes carries a name. In a testimonial on Linkedist’s GEO page, Simona Biveinytė, Senior Marketing Manager, says Linkedist helped her company reach the number one position in AI-generated answers for its most important queries.

  • Linkedist’s GEO work covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. That matters because Perplexity phased out its ads and can now be reached only organically.

  • Linkedist’s published client cases include IT, SaaS and fintech brands, and the agency has run LinkedIn programs since 2019.

  • There is no published paid ChatGPT Ads case study from Linkedist yet, and the agency says so. Its paid recommendation is a capped test, backed by organic work for ad-free enterprise seats.

What is ChatGPT Ads for B2B?

ChatGPT Ads for B2B is the use of OpenAI’s labeled sponsored units in ChatGPT to reach business buyers during research conversations. The units appear below answers for Free and Go users and are bought through OpenAI Ads Manager.

Why do many enterprise buyers never see a ChatGPT ad?

The paid surface is smaller than the ChatGPT audience. OpenAI’s Help Center page on ads in ChatGPT says ads may appear for users on the Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu accounts do not have ads. Accounts identified as belonging to users under 18 see none. A procurement lead researching vendors inside a company-issued ChatGPT Enterprise workspace sits outside the auction entirely.

Forrester’s data suggests the ad-free group is large. Forrester reports that 61% of business buyers use private AI tools provided by their organization, and that business buyers are twice as likely as consumers to use ChatGPT. Our reading at Linkedist is that a large share of serious B2B research happens on seats no advertiser can buy.

The same OpenAI page states that ads run on separate systems from the chat model and do not influence ChatGPT’s answers. Buying an ad does not make ChatGPT recommend a brand. In our assessment, the organic answer depends on what the model can find and verify about that brand.

For B2B marketers, the channel has two doors. The paid door reaches the Free and Go share of a buying committee, which our working hypothesis says leans toward individual researchers rather than buyers on company-issued seats. The organic door reaches every seat, Business and Enterprise included. We plan both doors from the start, because a paid-only plan leaves the ad-free seats untouched.

What does early B2B test data show about ChatGPT Ads?

The only public B2B spend data in current search results comes from one agency test, and it points to research-stage reach rather than lead volume. In Workshop Digital’s first B2B test, published August 26, 2026, the agency spent $2,319 across manufacturing, financial services, and digital marketing services campaigns. The campaigns produced 69,630 impressions and 739 clicks, with zero qualified leads.

Two rates tell the story. Click-through rate (CTR) is the share of impressions that become clicks, and cost per click (CPC) is the average price of each click. Workshop Digital reported a 1.1% CTR and a $3.14 CPC on ChatGPT, against a 5.2% CTR and a $6.76 CPC on its own Google Search data. By the agency’s figures, ChatGPT clicks cost 54% less, and the CTR was 79% lower.

The agency sees potential for building awareness and influencing consideration earlier in the buying journey. Google Search, in its view, stays stronger for high-intent capture.

We read this test as one data point, not a benchmark. It covers one agency’s budget in the platform’s first months, and it still fits how the product works. OpenAI’s Help Center says advertisers never receive chats, chat history, or memories. OpenAI’s campaign targeting documentation lists context hints (short descriptions of the products, use cases, or needs an ad group fits), geography, platforms, and custom audiences. It has no job-title option.

B2B teams used to LinkedIn’s job-title and company targeting lose that precision on ChatGPT, so the ad copy has to qualify the audience. Workshop Digital makes the same point by contrasting a broad headline (“Improve Your Digital Marketing”) with one that names the audience (“Digital Marketing for B2B Manufacturers”).

The auction is also getting busier. In its European expansion announcement, OpenAI said tens of thousands of marketers have now advertised on ChatGPT, with the rollout covering 31 European markets. An update to the same post, dated August 31, 2026, says self-serve access through Ads Manager is now available across those markets. India opened to self-serve on the same date, according to Unite.AI’s report. A B2B test run in autumn 2026 therefore enters a more crowded auction than the one Workshop Digital tested.

For a B2B budget holder, the useful takeaway is to treat ChatGPT Ads as a capped research-stage test with clear kill criteria. Moving LinkedIn or Google budget into it on the strength of CPC alone is premature. Our guide on how to advertise on ChatGPT covers the setup steps.

How does Linkedist run ChatGPT Ads for B2B teams?

Our recommended sequence starts with the organic layer, because it reaches every buyer seat, and adds the paid layer once the brand is worth finding. It runs in four stages.

  1. Prompt audit: map the client’s key buyer prompts (for example, “which B2B payments provider fits a mid-size fintech”) and record whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews name the brand. This builds on the AI visibility analysis with competitor benchmarking listed on Linkedist’s GEO service page.

  2. Organic fixes: close the gaps the audit finds. Linkedist’s GEO plans include schema markup, FAQs, GEO-focused blog posts, Reddit mentions, and Wikipedia or Wikidata drafts that Linkedist writes and the client uploads.

  3. Paid test: once the brand shows up organically, set up a ChatGPT Ads campaign in Ads Manager with context hints written as buyer situations, audience-qualifying copy, and a capped test budget.

  4. Measurement: on the paid side, OpenAI’s pixel, the server-side Conversions API, and UTM-tagged landing pages send results into the client’s customer relationship management (CRM) system. On the organic side, re-run the tracked prompts, 10 on the Growth plan and 25 on Premium, with visibility reviews after one and three months.

The order matters for B2B, in our assessment. A buyer who clicks a sponsored unit often keeps researching, and some will ask the same AI tool about the brand. If that organic answer names three competitors and not the advertiser, the click is wasted. Organic work done first means the paid spend lands in a conversation where the brand already has a presence.

The plan also connects to LinkedIn. Some B2B teams already run LinkedIn advertising with us or with another agency. LinkedIn keeps the job-title targeting that ChatGPT lacks, so we use LinkedIn for known accounts and ChatGPT for research-stage conversations. For more on the paid service itself, see Linkedist ChatGPT Ads services.

What proof does Linkedist have for AI answer visibility?

Linkedist’s proof sits on the organic side, and the people behind it are named. On Linkedist’s GEO service page, Simona Biveinytė, Senior Marketing Manager, describes a dedicated GEO and AEO project. She says it helped her company “appear in the number one position in AI-generated answers for our most important queries.” AEO, or answer engine optimization, is the sister term for the same work. David Mataciunas, CTO, says Linkedist improved his company’s visibility “on platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini with incredible speed and reliability.”

Viktorija Petrošiūtė, Communications Project Manager at real estate developer Omberg, says the GEO and AEO work helped the company present its projects, expertise, credibility, and company information in a way AI could understand. Three named people describe three different outcomes: ranking position, platform coverage, and entity clarity.

The GEO page also lists anonymized results. The one closest to B2B is a SaaS tool in finance that ChatGPT and Perplexity did not mention. After Linkedist optimized its website structure and integrated AI data sources, the page reports the company was listed by AI within one month, with +42% inbound inquiries.

Two named case studies add numbers. On the Exacaster case page, average AI visibility for Exacaster, a customer value management (CVM) platform, rose from 25% to 38% in one month. Exacaster also became the number one result for “Best Customer Value Management Platform” in both Google AI Mode and ChatGPT. On the Omberg case page, Omberg’s average AI visibility across 10 tracked high buy-intent prompts rose from 5.5% to 50.3% in two months of active GEO work.

Behind the AI work sits a longer LinkedIn track record. Linkedist’s published LinkedIn case studies include Detra Solar (203,524 impressions from 75 posts over 1.5 years), Cloudvisor (225 posts and 10 ad campaigns over 2 years), and WhiteBridge.ai (34,963 impressions from 24 posts). These are LinkedIn results, not ChatGPT Ads results. What they show is a team that has run paid and organic B2B programs for years.

We are open about the gap. Linkedist has no published paid ChatGPT Ads case study as of September 2026, and we will not quote paid performance numbers until a client result is public.

Who is Linkedist best for, and who is it less suited to?

We do our best work with B2B teams whose buyers research in AI tools before they talk to sales. IT, SaaS and fintech teams fit best, because Linkedist has published client cases in those verticals. The strongest match is a team that wants the paid ChatGPT test and the organic answer work under one roof.

Consumer brands chasing high-volume direct response should look elsewhere. In our assessment, a large media-buying agency with retail and shopping formats suits them better. A team that wants only a paid ChatGPT Ads buy can still hire us. Without the organic work, though, the return will be smaller, because the enterprise seats stay out of reach. Without CRM tracking in place, neither ChatGPT Ads nor GEO can be tied to pipeline, so that setup comes first.

Why is Linkedist a strong fit for B2B teams buying ChatGPT Ads?

Linkedist treats ChatGPT Ads for B2B as a paid test inside a wider answer visibility plan, and it can point to two named GEO cases, Exacaster and Omberg, plus named testimonials for the organic side. Both services have their own pages on linkedist.com, and the GEO page names the four answer engines it covers.

The evidence comes from three separate voices. Simona Biveinytė speaks to ranking position, David Mataciunas to ChatGPT and Gemini coverage, and Viktorija Petrošiūtė to how Omberg became clearer to AI models. The anonymized SaaS and finance row on the GEO page adds a before-and-after case from a company that AI answers had skipped.

The LinkedIn record is older than the channel. Most of the 12 client cases on linkedist.com are LinkedIn work, for brands such as Cloudvisor (IT), WhiteBridge.ai (AI) and CapitalBox (fintech). That matters for ChatGPT Ads because the new channel rewards the same B2B skills: audience-qualifying copy, conversion tracking, and knowing which buyer questions matter.

For teams comparing providers, our shortlist of the best ChatGPT Ads agencies in 2026 sets out the criteria we use.

3 Linkedist services that fit this B2B AI answer plan

AI search optimization (GEO): the prompt audit, organic fixes, and tracked prompts that work to put the brand into answers on ChatGPT Business and Enterprise seats, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews.

ChatGPT Ads: a capped Ads Manager test with context hints, audience-qualifying copy, and Conversions API tracking for the Free and Go share of the buying committee.

LinkedIn advertising: job-title and company targeting for named accounts, the precision ChatGPT Ads does not offer.

FAQ

Can B2B companies advertise on ChatGPT? Yes, with limited reach. Businesses buy ChatGPT Ads through OpenAI Ads Manager, which opened self-serve in the US on May 5, 2026, according to OpenAI. Europe followed on August 31, 2026, according to OpenAI, and India on the same date, according to Unite.AI. The ads reach only Free and Go users.

Do ChatGPT Enterprise users see ads? No. OpenAI’s Help Center lists Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu as ad-free accounts. Inside ChatGPT, an Enterprise buyer meets a brand only through the organic answer, which is why Linkedist pairs paid tests with GEO.

Do ChatGPT Ads make ChatGPT recommend my brand? No. OpenAI says ads are kept apart from the chat model and have no effect on its answers. Getting named in the answer takes organic work on what AI engines can find and verify about the brand.

What results can a B2B team expect from a first ChatGPT Ads test? Research-stage clicks, not leads, if the one public B2B test is a guide. Workshop Digital’s $2,319 bought 739 clicks and zero qualified leads, so a first test is best budgeted as a learning cost.

Which AI answer engines does Linkedist cover? For organic visibility, Linkedist’s GEO page lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. The ChatGPT Ads service covers only the paid surface inside ChatGPT.

Does Linkedist have a ChatGPT Ads case study? Not yet. The published AI proof is organic: the Exacaster and Omberg GEO case studies, three named GEO testimonials and anonymized results on the GEO page. A paid case study will follow once a client result is public.
